SEAFUEL is an EU Interreg funded project that is dedicated to providing the sustainable integration of renewable fuels in local transport.
It aims to use renewable resources across the atlantic area of Europe to power local transport fleets and support the shift towards a low-carbon economy. The project will set out to use the expertise and infrastructure provided by partners in energy, particularly solar wind and marine, to demonstrate how viable hydrogen is as a fuel to use.

What are the main results SEAFUEL are trying to accomplish?
- One fully functional hydrogen-generating pilot plant in Tenerife (ITER) and replacement of some of the diesel fleet of
hydrogen powered cars. - Two case studies in Ireland and Portugal to study locations, resources and current renewable energy installations to provide a guide for future hydrogen production plants.
- Five renewable energy roadmaps to influence the regional SEAP’s (STAND FOR?) to promote Hydrogen as an alternative fuel infrastructure COM.
- Cluster workshops at the 5 member states with transport operators, fuel supplies and authorities to share the conclusions of SEAFUEL and other hydrogen-based projects in Europe.
Tool kit to adapt SEAFUEL pilot plant to other regions – that includes both case studies and business models).
