GENerating energy secure COMMunities through smart renewable hydrogen.

GenComm is one of many projects set up by Interreg that is funded by the European commission. Its intention is4 to turn the North West of Europe (NWE) into a major world economic player as well as an attractive place to work and live.

The main aim of GENCOMM is to technically and financially validate the use of renewable H2. The project should provide the capability to adapt its findings to a DST that leads NWE communities into sustainable, local and autonomous energy matrices.

The DST is directed to community energy stakeholders (utilities, policy-makers and private energy firms), as the key agents to implement the findings.

The project will engage energetically and territorial remote communities and then address the rest of NWE.

Project objectives:

  1. Empower communities to implement hydrogen-based energy matrices to sustainable satisfy energy demand.
  2. Stimulate the uptake of renewable hydrogen-based technologies by successfully running 3 demonstration facilities.
  3. Establish a strong group of energy stakeholders devoted to ‘Sustainabilise’ the energy matrix of the NWE region, through the use of hydrogen.
